Welcome to Prayer For...

Finding the right words can be hard,
we hope this helps.

For Family

  • For the Our Family
  • Children
  • Elderly
  • Grace at Meals

O God, you made us in your own image and redeemed us through Jesus your Son. Look with compassion on the whole human family. Take away the arrogance and hatred which infect our hearts. Break down the walls that separate us; unite us in bonds of love. Work through our struggle and confusion to accomplish your purposes on earth, that in your good time, all nations and races may serve you in harmony around your heavenly throne. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Almighty God, heavenly Father, you have blessed us with the joy and care of children. Give us calm strength and patient wisdom as we bring them up, that we may teach them to love whatever is just and true and good, following the example of
our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Look with mercy, O God our Father, on all whose increasing years bring them weakness, distress, or isolation. Provide for them homes of dignity and peace. Give them understanding helpers and the willingness to accept help. As their strength diminishes, increase their faith and their assurance of your love. This we ask in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Give us grateful hearts, our Father, for all thy mercies, and make us mindful of others’ needs. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.
--or this--
Bless, O Lord, thy gifts to our use and us to thy service; for Christ's sake. Amen.
--or this--
Blessed are you, O Lord God, King of the Universe, for you give us food to sustain our lives and make our hearts glad; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
--or this--
For these and all his mercies, God's holy name be blessed and praised. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

For Loss

  • Trouble or Bereavement
  • Comfort
  • Loss of a Friend

O merciful Father, who hast taught us in thy holy Word that thou dost not willingly afflict or grieve the children of men: Look with pity upon the sorrows of thy servant for whom our prayers are offered. Remember him, O Lord, in mercy, nourish his soul with patience, comfort him with a sense of thy goodness, lift up thy countenance upon him, and give   him peace; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Jesus, You said, “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted” (Matthew 5:4, NIV). I am mourning; send me Your comfort now. Wrap around Your arms around me and hold me tight. Send angels of mercy to me. Shower Your comfort on me through those around me, and keep far from me those whose words and actions are no comfort. Amen.

Today Father, as I grieve for the loss of my friend, I find comfort in the fact that You too grieve for him. You have watched soul after soul after soul fall prey to the enemy’s lies.

Thank You, Lord, for opening my ears to Your words, my eyes to Your truths and my heart to Your message. Thank You for allowing me to understand what truly awaits the ones who choose not to come. Thank You for the ones who sought me out to share the glorious news of eternal life through the shed blood of Jesus Christ.

Father forgive us for being selfish with Your message of hope. Open our eyes to see the people of this world through Your eyes, so that we would move with urgency, carrying Your Banner of Hope, until the whole world hears. We ask these things in the Sweet Name of Jesus, Amen. - Amy Duncan

For Illness

  • Illness
  • Caregiver
  • For Doctors and Nurses Caring for a Loved One

Heavenly Father, Your word says that we are healed by Your stripes, so I pray right now for divine healing. Please see the needs of Your children so that they may be restored to health and be healed. I pray against all illnesses right now, both mentally and physically. Father, we look to You as the source of our healing in Jesus’ Name. I thank you in advance for the divine healing that which You have graced Your children. Continue to have Your way within our lives. Amen.

Holy God, please strengthen your people who have a responsibility to care for their families. Being a caregiver can take its toll, but I pray for divine strength so that the caregivers can do all things through You who strengthens them. Father, please surround your people, give power to the weak, and strengthen the powerless. I pray that even when they feel that their flesh and heart may fail, they understand that You are the strength of their heart and their portion. Father, continue to uphold them as they sacrifice their lives for others. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I thank you for the doctors and nurses who sacrificed their time so they may help your people. Thank You for those in the healthcare sector who open their hands wide to their brother, the needy, and the poor, in their area as You have commanded. I know that this sector can be extremely draining due to long hours and many people in severe conditions, but I pray that doctors and nurses cast all their anxieties on You for You care for them and surround them with Your perfect peace. Amen.

For Substance Abuse

  • Dealing with Addiction
  • Children Suffering from Addiction
  • Help with my Addiction
  • Courage to Enter Recovery

O blessed Lord, you ministered to all who came to you: Look with compassion upon all who have lost their health and freedom through addiction. Restore to them the assurance of your unfailing mercy; remove from them the fears that beset them; strengthen them in the work of their recovery; and to those who care for them, give patient understanding and persevering love.

God of freedom,
You know the wrestling of my heart, the pain, and sometimes disappointment that comes with seeing your child entangled in the very thing that causes their destruction.
There is not a situation that is too great for You, Lord. That is why I pray that You will help my child to break free from this heavy bondage.
I pray that You will bring healing, newness, and satisfaction to them in a way that can only be met by You. Give me comfort and hope in this trial, knowing that You care deeply for us.
In Your faithfulness, that You will lead my child to freedom from the strongholds in their life and show them true fulfillment in knowing You.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear God,
It’s a scary thing when you’re no longer in control of substances or items, but they become a master over you as if you cannot go a moment without them. If I'm honest, I feel overcome by my addiction, Lord. I cling to it for dear life, but I realize it is the very thing that strips me from living an authentic life. Father, You know the internal battle I face each day. Some days I feel like I am bound to lose, as I lose myself in it once again. Please, be gracious to me. Bring me to a place where I can act wisely, think soberly, and choose life. Help me overcome what has overtaken my life, Lord. Let me experience Your freeing power over strongholds.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord,
I know that there is light at the end of the tunnel, only if I choose to move toward the light and not hide in darkness. I admit, my life has been wrapped up in my addiction, but I want to overcome this, Lord. I know that the next step is recovery, but only I can make that decision. Father, please help me to overthrow the stubborn habits that I have built over time. Place newfound courage in me when I am driven by fear of exposure or secrecy. Help me, Lord, to gather the strength to make a change that will transform my life for the better by approaching and accepting the help available to me.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

For Healing

  • Children
  • Hospitalization of a Loved One
  • Chronic Pain
  • My Mind, Body, and Soul

God of healing,  There is nothing that causes more heartache, than the sight of your child stricken with sickness and pain. You understand that because You have watched Your Son endure pain for our forgiveness.
I turn to You, asking that You would heal their illness, that You would restore them to their lively self once again. Help me to trust You when I feel helpless and to learn how to lose my grip on things I cannot control as I give it up to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Dear Lord, I know that You can do all things and that nothing is impossible for You. Right now, I am wrought with anxiety over the health of my loved one, who has been hospitalized. Lord, my prayer is that You will work in the midst of their circumstance today. Where there are unknowns, would You uncover it? Where there is pain, would You bring relief? And where there is disbelief, would You make Yourself known? And if the pain does not cease, would they know the comfort of Your presence, Lord?
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord, I feel weak today. The strength that I am supposed to have feels constantly drained by the never-ending pain I am experiencing.  But You know my struggles, and the toll it takes on me each day. I know that You have made every part of me and that You are capable of healing every part too.  Would you stretch Your hand of grace on the parts of me that hurt, Lord, would You be my great Physician when the methods and medication of the world fall short? Grant me strength and freedom from this pain, that I might proclaim Your works and worship You without limitation.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father God, It can be so easy to neglect the most important. Sometimes we hurry and live to appear put together on the outside when really, we’re crumbling to pieces on the inside. Lord, I don’t want to live that way. I want to honor Your creation - my mind, body, and soul - which You have made so intricately. Where my mind is polluted with the filth of this world and struck down by false beliefs, would You bring renewal?' When I forget to take care of my body, help me remember that it is the tent that helps me stay grounded in life. And lastly, Lord, remind me of the importance of nurturing my soul, which so desperately needs You to help me recover in those vital areas of life.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

In Jesus name I pray, amen.

For Finances

  • In Debt
  • We are in Debt
  • Unity in Household Finances
  • Surrender our Finances to God's Will
  • Teach me/us to be A Giver

My heart feels burdened with the responsibilities ahead of me. At times it feels as if I will never get out of this cycle of anxiety, as I wonder how I will pay my bills or save up for things I need.  You know my needs, Lord, and You are not restricted by finances or obstacles as I often am.  I ask that You provide a way not only for me to settle what I owe and provide where finances are needed, but help me find a way to sustain providence for those needs, Lord.  In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

• We are in Debt
Father God,
The weight of our responsibilities brings a feeling of weakness. Lord, we are in over our heads, and I’m not sure how to reconcile what we have and what we owe. Lord, thank You for Your generosity toward us. You give us far beyond worldly treasure, but I can’t deny that real life does cause true stressors. I know that You are aware of that. Would You provide us with the means to cover our debt, Lord? Please, help us find a way or opportunity to grow financially, that we might repay what is due and save for the future. Help us to deal wisely with what You give us, Lord, and to honor You in our working, spending, and saving.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Father,
There are so many things that threaten to break the unity of a family. One of the biggest stressors for us is our finances. I know that we will not always agree on where it should be spent or even how it should be made, but I pray that You’d help us to come together with the purpose of honoring You with our finances. Lord, when we are pressed to make decisions and bear a heavy load, would You help us bear it together. Would we see ourselves as a team, not to see things as yours, or mine, but as ours. Help us to grow in unity, in love, respect, and in our finances.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord,

It’s so easy to hold onto your life. There is this need for safety, but I wrongfully believe that my safety lies in what I have, a place to rest, or money to access. None of those things are dependable because they can be so easily taken away.  Lord, You know which parts of my life I have a firm grip on. My prayer today is that You will help me to give up on my hold and my false sense of control.  Help me to surrender my finances to Your will. Lead me to the places You want me to pour into, where You want me to cut off, and ultimately where I can live a life that honors You, including financially.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Heavenly Father,
In a world where it is all about self-gain, my prayer today is that You will lead me to look outward instead of inward. When it is so easy to become self-involved, and I forget that my safety is not in what I own but in who I am, remind me of the truth. Remind me of the gift in giving, Lord. Your Word says that it is better to give than to receive. Would you mold my heart after that principle? When I am prone to cover for myself, while those around me lack, make me aware. More than anything, Lord, make me a giver that gives away cheerfully, lovingly, and with great gratitude that I get to share in the gift of giving.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

For Protection

  • God of My protection
  • From Illness or Disease
  • Safe Travels

We live in a world where hurt seems inevitable, whether physical, emotional, mental, or even spiritual.   I know not everyone has my best interest at heart and that You speak of man’s greatest enemy, constantly seeking to destroy us.
Father, I pray for Your gracious hand of protection in every part of my life when I leave home, in the relationships that I enter, and in my day-to-day life.

Would You keep me and those I love safely in Your hand and give me discernment in situations that I should remove myself from and the courage to do so? In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear God,
We've been living through one of the craziest times that the world has ever known. There’s so much fear all around. Where do we go? Who can we see? When will things go back to normal? These are questions that plague my mind, Lord. I know that we are susceptible to falling ill. And that even when you are as safe as you can be, you’re still not invincible. That’s why I pray, Lord, that You will help me guard myself by being wise about my actions. Would You put a hedge of protection all around me from any disease or illness? Help me to grow in strength and health, that I might serve You with all that I have.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord,
You’ve kept me this far. I imagine that I might not even know that there are so many instances that could have ended differently. Thank You for protecting me each of those times. As I set out on my next travels, Lord, I pray that You would go before me. Help me to be vigilant on the road, attentive, and responsible. Please protect those who will be traveling on the same roads, Lord, help us all to look out for one another’s safety, as much as we do for our own.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

For Forgiveness

  • Ask for Forgiveness
  • Pray to Forgive
  • Forgiving the Unforgivable

Ask for Forgiveness,  God of forgiveness, My heart can be so deceiving. So easily I count the wrong of others against me and dwell in unforgiveness.  Yet my greatest error is my sin against You. You who have all the right to hold it against me, but You made a way for me to be forgiven, through trust in Jesus, Your Son.  I pray that You will give me sincere remorse for my sin and that You will extend Your forgiveness and kindness over my sin.
Help me to feel the freedom of Your forgiveness in my life.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear God,  Inside of me, You will find hurt that has hardened because of my unforgiveness toward others. I know that forgiveness doesn’t mean excusing offenses, but it is so hard to let go of what someone has done to you.  More than simply forgiving, my prayer is that You might bring healing to these deep-seated wounds and a new way in which to see those who have caused me hurt in the past.   Just as You offer forgiveness to me, would You transform my heart to readily forgive others too?

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord, I was so hurt, it was so painful what they did.  I can't find it in my heart to forgive.  The pain is ever with me.  Forgiveness seems like it helps those who hurt me.  Change my heart, change my mind, do let me be identified by what happened to me, let me not ever be defined by what happened.   Free me Lord from this pain, help me, guide me, Free Me.  In Jesus's name, I lift up my prayer.

For Family Reconciliation

  • Family Reconciliation
  • Parents and Children Relationship

God of Restoration, I place my family before You right now, asking that Your love embraces our hearts and minds. Since the beginning, families have been dysfunctional, but I know that You can and have restored them. I pray that the same blessing of restoration and peace reaches my family. I pray that my family will be restored to the standard that You want for us. I pray for an Esau and Jacob restoration over my family right now. Let hate be consumed by love. Thank You Lord, Amen.

Dear Father, I pray for the relationship between parents and children. Please have Your divine way in their relationship so that they can be at peace with one another. I pray that they have mutual respect and love for each other as you have commanded. Let the parent-child relationship be healed and reconciled so that the children can be trained in the way they should go so that they will never depart from it when they grow. I declare that the parent-child relationship will heal and not wither away, Amen.

For Guidance and Wisdom

  • God's Guidance
  • God's Daily Direction
  • Prayer for Decision
  • Prayer to Change Me

God of guidance, I am at a crossroad, unsure of what steps to take next. I feel so anxious about making a mistake.  I don’t know what tomorrow holds, but You do. That is why I pray that You will guide me in the direction I am meant to go. Give me wisdom, peace of mind, and bring trustworthy people into my life who are wise advisors and helpful friends.  Help me to trust that You go before me, increasing my dependency on You.

Dear Jesus, When I wake up, You are aware of me. There is not a single movement I make that is hidden from Your sight. You know the challenges that I will face and the battles I will give into. Father, I ask that You go ahead of me this day. When I am prone to wander and forget Your way, will You lead me back on the path of life? Where I am tempted to show impatience, where I lack love, and when my attention is captured by lesser things, will You draw me back to what is most important? Be my guide, that I might reflect You in my decisions, in my speech, and in my actions today.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord, I feel a heavy weight on my shoulders. I know that You know what tomorrow holds and that nothing comes as a surprise to You. But what tomorrow holds brings me so much unknown. I don’t do well with the unknown. Lord, You are aware of the decision that I need to make. I pray that You would give me guidance at this time. Where things seem unclear, Father, would You bring clarity? And where I am filled with anxiety, help me to steady my thoughts on You. Help me to trust You through this process. Father, let me rest in the knowledge that You are sovereign and that I can cling to You no matter the outcome.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father God,  I fall short of the mark every day. It’s hard to admit your own weaknesses, but I know there is nothing that I can hide from You. In this very moment, You know my heart, and You are aware of my thoughts. Father, You call me to a life of repentance and of change, but I so often get distracted by my own desires and my flesh, which drives me further into despair.  When I am caught in my weakness, would You remind me that You provide me with strength? Where my heart has begun to harden, Lord, will You soften it to Your guiding voice?  Shape me, Lord, that my character might reflect You, and that my life might be evidence of the transforming power of Your Word in the heart of man. Amen.

For Better Relationship with God

  • God Reveal Yourself to Me
  • God Help Me with My Prayer Life
  • I feel like a hypocrite
  • Not My Will, but Yours

Heavenly Father,  I know it’s only human to doubt whether You are there or if You are real at times. People speak of their relationship with You, but Lord, I want to know You for myself.  Sometimes I don’t know how that could even be possible. The knowledge that You, the God of the universe, cares about me can’t be fathomed, yet You do.  I don’t know all the answers, but I desire to know You, Lord. Help me see You, as You are. Teach me about Your character, who You are to me as a Father, a Friend, but most of all my Savior.  Reveal Yourself to me, Lord, that I might grow in relationship with You, knowing that it is true, and it is personal, between You and me. Surround me with people who know You and who will help me draw closer to You.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord, Like any relationship, to know You requires my time, commitment, and communication. I realize at times that I prioritize other things above You, things that are far lesser.  Lord, when I am prone to wander and to turn to many things that will leave me running dry, remind me of the well that You have provided me. The living water revives my soul.  Help me to grow my relationship with You by talking with You each day. Let me know Your presence in a personal way Lord and grow to know Your voice too.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father God, At times I feel like a complete fraud. I know the right thing to do, but I don’t do it. And I know the consequences of the things I am not supposed to do, for my protection, and Your honor, yet I keep stumbling over the same blocks.  Whenever I am tempted to choose a destructive path, Lord, would you sober my thoughts? When I am dead set on following the urges of my flesh, would you help me consider its detrimental effect on others, my relationship with You, and myself?  Help me to walk in the truth, not only saying that I love and trust You but by walking it out in my everyday life. Let me grow steadily in the knowledge that You have given me Your Spirit to guide me and help me in times of trouble.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear God, Letting go of my life feels like the hardest thing to do. Even the thought that I might not be in control of my life brings me anxiety. But when I truly think about it, Your ways and thoughts are far above mine.  In my struggles to lay down my life and my ideas of what life should be, will You give me comfort knowing that my life lies in the most trustworthy hands?   When I am caught in anxious thoughts of failed plans and what tomorrow might bring, would You remind me of the future hope I have found in Christ? Help me remember that hope is not only for eternity, but that it is meant to transform the way I live my life today. In all things, let Your will be done and mine be set aside.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

While it may seem you are alone, People all over are praying with you.  God will never leave or forsake you.

Prayer For

For Help with Anxiety and Worry

  • Relief from My Anxiety
  • Overwhelmed
  • Restoration of my Joy
  • Freedom
  • Courage to Talk to Someone

God of peace, My thoughts fail me, Lord. I feel overcome by my anxiety over things in my reach, but especially over things, I have no control over. Help me to lean on You by bringing my anxieties to You. I pray that You will quiet the storms that rage in my mind.  Please give me peace in what feels like chaos and increase my ability to remember that all things are temporary so that I may dwell in Your peace, no matter my circumstances.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

I can’t help but feel as if I should be hidden. I feel overwhelmed by my anxious thoughts, to the point where it feels as if I can’t control them.  I know You are greater than my worries, but my anxiety keeps me hostage, to my own thoughts at times.  Lord, I’m overwhelmed. Would You give me a perspective of my circumstances in the grand scheme of things?  Help me to trust that You have my best interest at heart.  When my life feels like it is falling apart, help me to fall on You. Help me to seek You when I feel overcome by anxiety, that I might rest in Your presence and entrust my life unto You.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

I feel like life has stolen away my joy so easily. In the times that I should experience the most joy, I am plagued with anxious thoughts. It leaves me in constant despair. Lord, I know that You have not created me to live in continual anxiety and hopelessness. Please restore a new joy unto me. Let that joy not be so easily taken from me because it is sustained by You.  Father, let Your joy be not only my salvation, in my times of despair, but let it become my strength in the times I feel most weak.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear God,

My heart fails me so often. It’s as if I am overcome by anxieties that seem impossible to overcome. It feels like a self-made trap  I keep walking into.  Though my anxiety is very real to me, Lord, I pray that my anxiety might know that You are even more present.  When I am caught in a spiral of thoughts, would You capture my attention, Lord? When I am overwhelmed by my circumstances, will You remind me to seek You first and bring my burdens to You?  But more than anything, Lord, would You release the hold of anxiety on both my heart and my thoughts, so I might make room for Your peace and sovereignty to rule over my fears?

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Father God,

I feel driven into a corner by my anxiety. There is so much shame that comes with it, that makes me believe my thoughts are irrational and should be kept a secret. But Lord, my fears feel real. My anxiety feels insurmountable. My thoughts feel uncontrollable.  I have grown comfortable keeping it to myself. But it is draining me more than I want to admit, Lord. Please help me to overcome my fear of sharing this struggle with someone.  Please direct me to someone who will do more than listen, but one I can trust to pray with me, Lord, and guide me in overcoming it. Give me the courage to trust someone and open up; that I might know the freedom and peace You offer me through honesty.

In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

For Help with Depression

  • Help with Depression
  • Help Overcoming Depression
  • Courage to Ask for Help
  • Pray for a Family Member Struggling with Depression

Loving Father, It feels as if I am in a constant tug of war with myself. The side that knows there are hope and life beyond these hopeless feelings, and the part of me that feels like there is no use in trying.   You have created me purposely, but I am struggling to believe that. My thoughts feel darkened, and my body is exhausted.
Father, I pray that You will revive my spirit from within and renew my thoughts. Give me eyes to see the hope that You provide me with, hope that can overcome my greatest battles.

In Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Dear God, Every day feels like an uphill battle. The problem is, the battle feels as if it’s against my own thoughts, my own willpower, my own feelings. I know that life is worth living, living fully, but I struggle to find the strength to get up each day or the desire to face the tasks that await me. I feel overcome by depression, Lord, and it makes me feel so alone, isolated, and at times, worthless. Please help me overcome these feelings Lord, help my thoughts to point to Your Truth when I am prone to believe lies about myself, about You, and about life. Where my hope has dwindled, will You restore it, will You grant me purpose again Lord and lead me to friends or a counselor who can guide me through this process, knowing this does not have to consume me, Lord.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear God, I don’t feel like myself at all. The worst part is that I don’t know how to fully explain what I am feeling. Sometimes it’s as if I feel nothing, and at other times, it’s as if I feel everything at once.  At times I feel as if it’s my fault that I feel this way and that I just need to figure out how to get out of it myself. But how can I do that when I feel stuck, lonely, and misunderstood?  Lord, I pray that You will help me to muster the courage to speak to someone. Someone who will not only welcome me, but who will be able to either help me or guide me to a person or resource that can put me on the path of recovery and stay connected to You through it all.

In Jesus’ matchless name, I pray. Amen.

  • Pray for a family member struggling with Depression

Father God, If there is anything worse than dealing with depression yourself, it is seeing someone you love and care about struggle with such a vicious battle.  Lord, where my words fail and my actions fall short in helping my loved one, I pray that Your presence will be most tangible to them. I pray they will seek the help that they need, or at the least accept the help they are being offered.  In what feels like an insurmountable fight, would You show them Your peace, victory, and the newness that You offer through a relationship with You? Increase their strength each day and revive a new hope within them, Lord.

In Jesus' matchless name, I pray. Amen.

For Unemployment and Job

  • Unemployment
  • Looking for a Job
  • Unhappy with a Job
  • Anxiety over Unemployment

Heavenly Father, we remember before you those who suffer want and anxiety from lack of work. Guide the people of this land to use our public and private wealth that all may find suitable and fulfilling employment, and receive just payment for their labor.

Through Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Dear Lord, If I’m honest, I’m having a really difficult time. There are so many pressures to have things figured out, and sometimes life just doesn’t work that way. Lord, You know both my need and desire to find a job. I know that You have given me unique skills, You have given me the capabilities to do various things, and most importantly, the ability to learn new skills. I pray that You would help me find a job suitable for me, where I can not only work but where I can grow and be a benefit to others. Help me, Lord, to hold onto faith as I apply and wait for open positions. Let me get out of my own way, Lord, that I would not restrict where You might be leading me.
In Jesus’ matchless name, I pray. Amen.

Father God, I feel stuck; although I know that my work is providing for the different responsibilities I have, I just feel so unsatisfied. I don’t want to feel like I am wasting my time in a place where I spend such a large portion of my life each day. I don’t know whether it’s time to move forward in a different position, or perhaps a whole different path. Maybe I just need to hold out and allow my heart posture to be adjusted. I know having a job is a blessing, but sometimes it feels like the biggest stressor. Lord, I pray that You will help me in my daily work. May whatever it is that is bothering me come to light, and if possible, be worked through. Please grant me patience. But if it’s time to switch my direction, Lord, I pray that You would lead me to that and give me the peace to make the right decision, Father.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord, It feels as if my life is moving by so fast. There are so many expectations that the world places on you, things you need to achieve by a certain age, squeezing everyone into the same mold. But I know that those expectations are unrealistic, and they do not equal success. Aside from those expectations, I am so anxious, Lord. How long will it take me to find a job? Will I end up doing something that I dread? How will I cover my expenses or responsibilities? These questions all plague my thoughts, Lord. I pray that You will help me steady my anxious thoughts. Please help me not become discouraged by rejection, Lord, do all that I can do on my part, to apply, be willing to work, and grow in peace despite these unwanted circumstances, Lord.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

For Marriage

  • Restoration of Marriage
  • Christ Centered Marriage
  • Prayers for Spouse
  • Prayers for Honesty and Intimacy

Dear God, There is a tear in my heart where there should be unity. It feels as if our problems have become greater than our initial vow to stick through them no matter what. It breaks my heart to have reached this point. That is why I pray for Your intervention in our relationship. I pray that You will make whole what has been broken for so long. Restore joy where it has been replaced with a complaint, renew love and forgiveness in us beyond our human capabilities, that can only be done through You. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

Father God,

You created marriage. You made it the perfect reflection of who the church is to Christ - His bride. Lord, marriage is a beautiful gift, but it can so easily become about the wrong things. We often make it about ourselves, believing its sole purpose is there to serve our every want and need, but that is far from the truth. Our marriage is flawed, like any human relationship. But You have placed a high value and honor on that commitment, and I pray that You will give us that same sacredness toward it.

Father, work in both of our hearts to deny ourselves, that we may pick up our cross, serving You and serving one another, as You call us to, that it might be evident that our marriage is centered on You.

Dear God,

I want to bring before You my spouse this day. You have made them wonderfully, fashioning them after Your purpose, Lord. Sometimes it is easy to lose sight of what is good, and we forget to be thankful.  Lord, today I simply want to pray that You will allow my spouse to know the depth in which they are known and loved by the Maker of the universe. I pray that their heart turns toward You and that You will transform the parts of their heart that have been hurting, broken, hiding, or silenced for so long. I pray that You will help them know that their burdens are not too heavy for You and that their lives serve a purpose, especially when it is found in You. Help us to move not only closer to You but closer to one another because of You.

Dear Lord,
There are so many walls that build up over time, trying to divide us. But You have created marriage to be between two people who share a life – a life built on honesty, dignity, trust, and love.
But at times, we allow ourselves to grow apart, live in secrecy, and make fewer efforts. Lord, I pray that You will forgive us for letting our relationship wither away with issues when we should work on it. Please, give us both a newfound appreciation and a renewed sense of commitment. When we bottle things up, help us share with one another in a loving and transparent way. And where we have stopped showing one another that special intimate love that You have given us to share, restore an even stronger bond and love between us.
In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

For Women

  • All Mothers
  • Single Mothers
  • Widows
  • Abused

Righteous God, I thank you for all mothers and pray that You keep them under your countenance. I thank you for all the mothers who You have been present, comforting their children in these evil days. I thank you for all the mothers, both biological and spiritual, who are clothed with strength and dignity. Thank you for the mothers who open their mouth with wisdom and whom the teaching of kindness is on their tongue. I declare that her children shall rise up and call her blessed; everything that her hand touches shall be nurtured with grace and love! In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Heavenly Father, I pray right now, especially, for single mothers. Although motherhood begins in physical pain, the result is joy - for that, I thank You! However, motherhood is not a burden that one carries lightly, especially for single mothers. I pray for all the single mothers who feel overwhelmed by their responsibilities and desire to do well. I pray that they are anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let their requests be made known to You, so that your peace will guard their hearts and minds. Amen.

Awesome God, we come to You on behalf of the widows who are hurting. Father, please heal the broken-hearted and bind up their wounds. Losing a loved one is a pain often described as unbearable, one often feels alone, but I pray that the widower continues to set their hope on You and continues in supplications and prayers night and day. I pray that they turn to You in the storm that they call grief. I pray that You be the peace that consumes them despite their severe pain. Lord, be their comfort when they feel like nobody understands what they’re going through. Lord, be the friend that never leaves their side in their mourning. Amen.

• Abused
God of Peace, I pray for abused women. I pray that they do not lose heart in their current situation. Abuse is not something that You want Your children to endure, but I pray that even though they go through this severe experience, their inward man will be renewed day by day. I pray that their minds will not be crippled by the things they have seen and experienced, and instead, they focus on the unseen things as these are eternal. Lord, be their peace in their situation and their source of strength to escape their situation. Amen.

For the Poor and Neglected

  • Poor and the Neglected
  • The Oppressed
  • Prisoners
  • Those Who are Isolated
  • The Lonely

Almighty and most merciful God, we remember before you all poor and neglected persons whom it would be easy for us to forget: the homeless and the destitute, the old and the sick, and all who have none to care for them. Help us to heal those who are broken in body or spirit and to turn their sorrow into joy. Grant this, Father, for the love of your Son, who for our sake became poor, Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Look with pity, O heavenly Father, upon the people in this land who live with injustice, terror, disease, and death as their constant companions. Have mercy upon us. Help us to eliminate our cruelty to our neighbors. Strengthen those who spend their lives establishing equal protection of the law and equal opportunities for all. And grant that every one of us may enjoy a fair portion of the riches of this land; through
Jesus Christ, our Lord. Amen.

Oh Lord, I pray right now for prisoners who are physically confined, mentally or emotionally confined, and spiritually confined. I pray they follow the example of Apostle Paul who, in his chained state, realized that his imprisonment actually turned out for the furtherance of the gospel. I pray that we understand that you can still work with us in our state of bondage and work in us. I pray against the plans of the enemy to make us feel oppressed. Instead, I declare that we count it all joy when we fall into our various trials knowing that the test of our faith produces patience; this is the prayer of my heart. Amen.

God of love, You see me, and You know me. When I feel most invisible to others and begin to believe all sorts of lies: that I am unimportant, unlovable, and alone. Help me to know Your truth. Would You bring a community into my life that I can feel a part of? Help me know that You want to come alongside me, be my friend, and comfort me in my loneliness.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord, I cannot hide away from Your presence. In my deepest loneliness, You are aware of me, even when I am unaware of You. Thank You for loving me and seeking me out. When I feel rejected or abandoned, I pray that You will help me know that I am loved and known. I pray that You will bring people into my life who will walk beside me and with whom I can share joy, purpose, friendship, and love.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

In Jesus name I pray, amen.

For Students

  • Schools / College
  • Tests
  • Expectations
  • I'm Failing
  • Social Pressure
  • New School
  • No Friends
  • Back to School
  • Not Fitting in
  • Stuck at Home

O Eternal God, bless all schools, colleges, and universities [and especially ___________], that they may be lively centers for sound learning, discovery, and the pursuit of wisdom; and grant that those who teach and those who learn may find you to be the source of all truth; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Dear Lord,

As I prepare to write the test ahead of me, I pray that You would quiet any anxious thoughts inside me. When I am tempted by various distractions, help me to remain focused and calm.

Please grant me the discipline to prioritize my studies and to be able to take my test knowing that I have done my part. I pray that You will bring to mind what I have studied when I write, give me an understanding of each topic, and peace when the time comes so that I might finish strong.

In Jesus’ matchless name, I pray. Amen.

Dear God,
Although the time of tests is often accompanied by many feelings of anxiety, doubt, sleepless nights, and procrastination, I pray that You would help me be well prepared and balance my time and tasks. I know that these tests are important and that there is a goal within it all. Lord, I pray that You would help me to realize that I am fully capable of exceeding any expectations. Help me see that with the right mindset, I can do well! I pray that my results will be evidence of that. In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord,
It is difficult not to feel so utterly ashamed of failing. I know that there are many expectations placed upon me and people who rely on me to perform well, but I feel like they don’t always understand that I am also going through other things. Please help me to believe that my worth is not solely dependent on my performance because performances can change so drastically, Lord. Where I have slacked, I pray that You will help me to pick up the pace again. When I am vulnerable to feeling like I’m just not smart enough, I pray that You will help me to know that You think kindly of me. Please help me dust myself off this moment in time, knowing that I can do better next time, Lord and that You love me the same.

Abba Father,

I’m in a place where I feel so confused. It’s as if I have to compromise who I am or my values to be liked by those around me. I know that I should not allow myself to be so easily influenced.   Please help me to remember that I am not called to conform to the world, and its patterns, which are often so damaging and destructive. Help me to know that You desire that I become transformed by Your Word. I pray that You would give me the courage to say no when I need to, find comfort in You and a good community when I feel shunned by those who reject me for not joining them in their indulgences. Let me be a light when everyone wants to stay in darkness, Lord.

Dear Lord,
There is nothing as daunting as the unknown. A new school means a lot of things are going to change. What used to be familiar to me is in the past, and I know that as much as change can be good, it comes with its own set of challenges. Lord, I pray that You will help me settle into this new environment better than I expect. Help me not to be so hard on myself if adjusting takes a while. I pray that You will bring good friends into my life, help me stay on track with my classes, and take the opportunities that are presented, so I might grow and challenge myself.

Dear Father,
I know that I can’t do life on my own and that friendships are valuable, but building solid friendships can be so challenging. Sometimes I feel misunderstood. At other times I feel discouraged as if there is no use in trying. You know my desire for true friends. I pray that You would bring friends into my life who will build me up, who I can run with along this journey of life. Lord, help me show eagerness to engage with them, be myself, and allow them that same gift. But most of all, let those friendships challenge, encourage, and draw us closer to You.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear God,
As I think of school, there are so many things that have the potential to instill anxiety inside of me. School has become anything but simple, conflicts with other students, sometimes treatment from teachers, and the expectations placed on me to perform and meet certain criteria. Sometimes it just feels like too much for one person. God, I pray that You will ready my heart to return to school. Help me have a changed attitude toward those around me and especially toward my schoolwork and make it a habit to lay my burdens before You throughout the school period.
In Jesus’ matchless name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Father,
Why do I feel so out of place? It feels as if there is something wrong with me, especially when I see other students mix together so well, have things in common, and speak a whole different language from me. I know that You have made me unique, , but I feel so tempted to adjust my interests, values, and image in order to be accepted by others. Please help me discern when there is something I really need to work on, and never compromise on unique traits and values that honor You, just to be liked by others. I pray that You will bring a good community of people into my life who allow me to be me and yet to grow to become better.
In Jesus’ name, I pray. Amen.

Dear Lord

I could have never imagined the year to have gone the way it did. Sometimes I feel so confined and stuck. Even though we’re in a terrible time, our responsibilities never truly end.

School feels overwhelming at times. It’s up to me to manage my time and classes at home, and it can be so tempting to put school off until the last minute. Lord, I pray that You will help me to manage my time wisely. When there is an opportunity to procrastinate, teach me the discipline of self-control. When I feel overwhelmed and annoyed with those around me at home, help me to show patience and kindness.

Give me peace of mind, knowing that I can manage my classes and my home life with perseverance and patience.

In Jesus’s name, I pray. Amen.

For Town, and Nation

  • For Country
  • For Leaders
  • Justice
  • Cities
  • Rural Towns and Areas

Almighty God, who hast given us this good land for our heritage: We humbly beseech thee that we may always prove ourselves a people mindful of thy favor and glad to do thy will. Bless our land with honorable industry, sound learning, and pure manners. Save us from violence, discord, and confusion; from pride and arrogance, and from every evil way. Defend our liberties, and fashion into one united people the multitudes brought hither out of many kindreds and tongues.

Endue with the spirit of wisdom those to whom in thy Name we entrust the authority of government, that there may be justice and peace at home, and that, through obedience to thy law, we may show forth thy praise among the nations of the earth. In the time of prosperity, fill our hearts with thankfulness, and in the day of trouble, suffer not our trust in thee to fail; all which we ask through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

O Lord our Governor, whose glory is in all the world: We commend this nation to thy merciful care, that, being guided by thy Providence, we may dwell securely in thy peace. Grant to the President of the United States, the Governor of this State (or Commonwealth), and to all in authority, wisdom and strength to know and do thy will. Fill them with the love of truth and righteousness and make them ever mindful
of their calling to serve the people in thy fear; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who liveth and reigneth with thee and the Holy Spirit, one God, world without end. Amen.

Almighty God, who sitteth in the throne judging right: We humbly beseech thee to bless the courts of justice and the magistrates in all this land; and give unto them the spirit of wisdom and understanding, that they may discern the truth, and impartially administer the law in fear of thee alone; through him who shall come to be our Judge, thy Son our Savior Jesus Christ. Amen.

Heavenly Father, in your Word you have given us a vision of that holy City to which the nations of the world bring their glory: Behold and visit, we pray, the cities of the earth. Renew the ties of mutual regard which form our civic life. Send us honest and able leaders. Enable us to eliminate poverty, prejudice, and oppression, that peace may prevail with righteousness and justice with order. Men and women from different cultures and with differing talents may find, with one another, the fulfillment of their humanity; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

Lord Christ, when you came among us, you proclaimed the kingdom of God in villages, towns, and lonely places: Grant that your presence and power may be known throughout this land. Have mercy upon all of us who live and work in rural areas [especially__________]. Grant that all the people of our nation may give thanks to you for food and drink and all other bodily necessities of life, respect those who labor to produce them, and honor the land and the water from which these good things come. All this we ask in your holy Name.
